Record Warmth Across Southwest Kansas

MANY RECORD HIGH TEMPERATURES SET THURSDAY – April 13, 2006

Thursday saw many record temperatures broken in southwest Kansas as highs rose into the 90s.  Medicine Lodge reached 100 degrees, which is also the earliest in the spring a 100 degree temperature has been recorded at Medicine Lodge.  In addition to Dodge City (92) and the Garden City Region Airport (94) setting records, 13 other locations established record highs.  The 94 degrees at Garden City is also the earliest in the year that it’s been this warm.  Down sloping winds, dry conditions, a weak upper level ridge and plenty of sun led to the very warm temperatures across the area.
