Record High Minimum Temperatures Set in Southwest Kansas Saturday and Sunday (May 29, 2006)

With a low of 73 degrees Saturday, the Dodge City Regional Airport established a record high minimum temperature for May 27th. This also tied the warmest high minimum for the month of May at Dodge City which was set on May 29th in 1991. Records date back to 1875 for May.

The Garden City Regional Airport also established a record high minimum temperature on Saturday with a low of 68 degrees breaking the previous record of 65 set in 1953.  A record high was also set at the Garden City Regional Airport with a reading of 101 degrees which broke the previous record of 95 set in 1974.

On Sunday the Garden City Regional Airport established another record high minimum temperature for May 28th with a low of 75 degrees. The previous record was 66 set in 1953. This was also the warmest high minimum temperature for the month of May breaking the record of 72 degrees set on May 29th 1989. The Dodge City Regional Airport tied their record high minimum temperature on Sunday with a low of 69 degrees. The record was set in 1895 and tied in 1991.
