Heavy rain fell in northeastern Ness and western Rush counties Thursday evening and overnight. As much as 5.8 inches of rain fell just north of Alexander and 5.10 inches was reported 8 miles NNE of Bazine in Ness county. The Walnut Creek at Nekoma had risen 15 feet and topped out at 24.19 feet at 8 am this morning. Flood stage for this creek is 29 feet. More rain is in store for the area and a flood watch is in effect tonight and Saturday morning mainly along and to the north of a Syracuse to Larned line. The flood watch is also in effect for far Southwest Kansas including Stanton, Grant, Morton, and Stevens County through Saturday.
