September 2006 ended up as the fifth coolest on record with an average of 64.6 degrees, which was 4.7 degrees below normal.  The coolest September on record was in 1974 with an average of 63.4 degrees.  The warmest temperature for the month was 92 degrees on the 16th, and the coldest was 39 degrees on the mornings of the 19th and 28th.  The average high temperature was 77.7 degrees and the average low was 51.4 degrees. 

Precipitation for the month ended with 0.64 inches, which was 1.06 inches below normal.  The greatest 24 hour amount occurred on the 8th and 9th with 0.22 inches recorded.  The total precipitation for the year through the end of September was 15.13 inches, which was 3.99 inches below normal.  The average wind speed was 11.7 mph.  The maximum wind gust was 48 mph from the south and occurred on the 15th.  The windiest day was on the 21st with an average of 21.9 mph.  Total sunshine for the month was 76 percent.
