October 2007 Weather Summary

The average temperature of 60.2 degrees for October 2007 at the Dodge City Regional Airport was 3.1 degrees above normal.  This was the warmest October on record since 1975 when the average was 60.6 degrees and the 14th warmest October of record (since 1875).



The average high was 75.5 degrees and the average low was 44.9.  The warmest temperature was 94 degrees on the 5th and the coldest was 31 on the 26th.  Only one record was set and that was on the 5th.  The low only dropped down to 66 degrees that day and that tied a record highest minimum temperature.  The record was set in 1900 and tied in 1931. 

The total precipitation for the month was 1.47 inches which was 0.02 inches above normal.  Most of that fell on the 7th when 1.32 inches was recorded.  The greatest 24 hour total was 1.37 inches on the 7th and 8th.  The total precipitation from January 1st to October 31st was 17.13 inches, which was 3.44 inches below normal. 

The average wind speed for October was 13.7 mph and the highest gust was 54 mph from the west on the 17th.  The amount of sunshine for the month was 74 percent.
