Hot Temperatures Across Southwestern Kansas - July 20, 2005

Hot temperatures prevailed across southwestern Kansas Wednesday as readings topped the century mark in most locations.  The highest temperature was 108 degrees at the Hays airport.  No official records are kept for this site.  The Garden City Regional Airport tied their record high of 104 degrees that was set in 1980.  Other high temperatures included 103 degrees at Dodge City, 102 degrees at Elkhart, Liberal and Medicine Lodge.  Pratt fell just short of the century mark with a reading of 99 degrees.  Hot temperatures will continue across the area through at least Friday as a strong ridge upper level high pressure remains anchored over the central plains.
