July Weather Summary For Dodge City

<p>The average temperature for the month was 79.4 degrees, which was 0.4 degrees below normal.  It seemed like it was above normal with the number of 100 degree days at the end of the month.  There were a total of  7 100 degree days with 6 of them from the 20th to the 25th.  These 6 days were followed by record low temperatures on the 27th, 28th and 29th with readings of 49, 53 and 55 degrees, respectively.  The hottest temperature was 103 degrees and occurred on the 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th and 31st.  The lowest temperature was 49 degrees and occurred on the 27th.  The average high temperature for the month was 93.4 degrees and the average low was 65.3 degrees.

Precipitation started out promising at the beginning of the month as 1.21 inches of rain fell from the 2nd to the 6th, however only 0.08 inches fell the rest of the month.  The total for the month was 1.29 inches, which was 1.88 inches below normal.  The total precipitation for the year at the end of July was 12.81 inches, which was also 1.88 inches below normal.  The average wind speed was 13.1 mph.  The maximum wind gust was 58 mph from a thunderstorm and occurred during the late evening on the 4th.  The windiest day was on the 17th with an average of 18 mph.  Total sunshine for the month was 88 percent.</p>
