December ends on very wet note!

2006 is the 2nd wettest December on record for Dodge City

Since record keeping began in Dodge City in 1874, there have been 11 storm events in December that have produced 1 inch or more of liquid equivalent precipitation (prior to the December 29-31 storm).  Of the 132 years in recorded history, there has been only one year in which more than one major precipitation event of 1" or greater liquid equivalent precipitation occurred -- that being in 1918.

The storm of December 28-30, 2006 for Dodge City provided 3.20" of precipitation... which is the 2nd such event in just a week and a half... which is a rarity for Southwest Kansas in the middle of the cold season!
