Cooperative Weather Observer Dennis Brown receives Length of Service Award

Dennis Brown, cooperative weather observer of rural northeastern Ford County KS near Bellefont, was presented with a 15 year length of service award on Wednesday, September 18th, by Mike Scott, Cooperative Program Manager for the National Weather Service in Dodge City.  Also in attendance for the presentation was Larry Ruthi, Meteorologist in Charge.  Dennis has recorded rainfall and snowfall data for the National Weather Service since 1998.  The station was established in 1959 with Delbert Kane as the first observer.   Mr. Kane continued until 1983 when Lavonne Nau took over.  Mr. Brown took over the observing duties in 1998.
