Dan Frick of Ness City Honored with Length of Service Award

Cooperative Weather Observer Dan Frick of Ness City KS was presented with a 15 year length of service award by Senior Meteorologist Matt Gerard of the National Weather Service in Dodge City on Thursday, December 26th.  The station was begun in 1889 by L.E. Knowles.  There were many observers up through 1947 before Floyd Cooley took it over.  Mr. Cooley was the observer for 36 years until 1983.  Mr. Frick became the official observer for Ness City in 1998 and he records temperature and precipitation data.
