The Minnesota Arrowhead region, including Lake and Cook counties in far northeast Minnesota, received heavy icing with widepspread amounts of an inch or more. The ice accumulations lead to widespread power outages and tree damage across the north shore of Lake Superior region. The power outages lasted several days and affected 2000 residents in Lake County, including the communities of Two Harbors, north to Finalnd and Grand Marais, where Red Cross shelters were put in place. A 24 hour rainfall total of 1.35 inches was recorded at the Duluth National Weather Service office.
