On July 14th, very heavy rain inundated central Minnesota, from Staples to Aitkin. Rainfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour overwhelmed the rate at which the ground could absorb the water. This resulted in flooding of low-lying areas and streets.

There were widespread reports of an nearly an inch or more of rain over the northern half of Minnesota and the northwest corner of Wisconsin. The drought-stricken areas of northwestern Wisconsin, including the counties of Burnett, Washburn, Sawyer, and Price, received 0.05 to 0.3 inches of rain.
