Winter Season Snowfall

A Snowy Winter Season So Far With the Help of 2 Major Snowstorms

This winter season (defined as December 1st through February 28) has brought 48.3 inches of snow to Duluth as of February 2nd. However, 38.2 inches fell from two major snowstorms. The Christmas blizzard dumped 24.5 inches of snow over a three day period beginning on Christmas Eve. 13.7 inches of snow fell on January 23rd through the 25th. So, these two storms have brought 79% of this seasons snowfall to Duluth. Another perspective, without the two storms, our seasonal snowfall would be 10.1 inches which would currently rank as the 9th lowest seasonal snowfall total for Duluth. Instead, Duluth is having its 16th snowiest winter season so far.
