First Snow Of The Season!

The first measurable snow of the season packed quite a punch for the Northland.  Following the passage of a record low pressure storm, cold air blasted in behind the storm system and quickly changed the rain to snow Tuesday evening.

The daily snowfall amounts from Tuesday and Wednesday at Duluth (National Weather Service office) were new daily snowfall records.  On Tuesday 3.4 inches fell, which broke the old record of 1.7 inches set in 1969, and on Wednesday 4.3 inches fell, which broke the old record of 4.0 inches set in 2003.

The map below shows the snowfall amounts from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.
