Severe Weather Possible Today

A cold front will move across the region this afternoon and generate thunderstorms, some of which may become severe. The main threats with these storms will be large hail, damaging winds, tornadoes, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall.   Below are some graphics that you can use to brief yourself on the upcoming storms:

Remember that the HPC Precipitation forecast is intended to forecast an average over an area, and rainfall totals are likely to be higher in locations that see more thunderstorm activity.
