The TAF format will change on Nov 5th, 2008

Beginning at 00Z Nov 5, 2008, the NWS will begin issuing 30-hour TAFS for 32 airports across the country. DTW is included in this list. Due to this change, a date/time element will be added to the body of the TAF, including the change groups. To unify the TAF code, even those TAFS that remain a 24-hour forecast (DET,FNT,MBS) will change over to the new code.


The change: add the date to each time group.
The valid time of a TAF will change from the present ddhhhh to ddhh/ddhh
FM groups change from hhmm to ddhhmm
TEMPOs and PROBs will also change: hhhh in both groups changes to
