Bulleted Winter Storm and Non-Precipitation Products to Begin this Winter

The National Weather Service office in White Lake will participate in the testing of a bulleted format for winter weather and non-precipitation products. The test will begin with the first watch, warning or advisory statement for a specific storm on or after December 8th.  In other words, if a winter storm hits Southeast Michigan on December 7th and continues into the 8th, the bulleted winter weather products would begin with the next winter storm.  A sample of a bulleted winter weather message follows:

* SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS AND STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE
DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR BACK COUNTRY ACTIVITIES IN THE HIGH SIERRA
TONIGHT AND SATURDAY.
* TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ABOVE 9000 FEET OF 6 TO 12 INCHES...WITH
4 TO 6 INCHES BETWEEN 8000 FEET AND 9000 FEET.
* SOUTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 20 TO 40 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 60
MPH. GUSTS TO 90 MPH ARE POSSIBLE OVER THE SIERRA RIDGES.
* SNOW LEVELS WILL START NEAR 10000 FEET TONIGHT AND DROP TO AROUND
8000 FEET BY LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON.
