A Winter Weather Advisory was in effect for the entire CWA Sunday night and into Monday morning as a wintery mix approached Southeast Michigan. Precipitation started off as snow around 5pm Sunday in the southern suburbs and not until 6:30pm for areas in the north. This snow resulted in much of Southeast Michigan seeing a total between 1 to 3 inches.  There was then a transition to some sleet before eventually changing over to freezing rain around midnight. Freezing rain continued to impact Southeast Michigan until around 3am at which time the majority of the mixed precipitation moved off to the east. The freezing rain resulted a coating of ice on top of the newly fallen snow and covered trees, powerlines, cars, and any other elevated surface across Southeast Michigan. Total ice accumulation was between 0.1 inch and 0.2 inch for most locations. Lingering freezing drizzle continued to fall across the northern suburbs while rising temperatures in the south brought rain to the southern counties (Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Wayne) through 7am. After 7am, warm temperatures rising above freezing filtered into most of the CWA, allowing any remaining precipitation to fall as rain.
