Record Cold Stats for SE MI

Following Sunday's winter storm, Arctic air will blast into southeast Michigan.  The heart of the cold air will be over the region Monday through Wednesday (Jan 6-8), when daily record low maximum and minimum temperature records could be set.  In addition to the cold air, windy conditions will create dangerously cold wind chills of 20 below zero to 40 below zero at times, with the lowest wind chills likely occurring Monday night.  To see how the record cold stats compare to this week's forecast, check out the links below.

The high temperature at Detroit on Tuesday will struggle to reach zero degrees.  If the high remains below zero, it will be the first time this has occurred at Detroit since 1994, and only the 6th time in history.  When considering the mean average daily temperature, the Monday-Tuesday period has the potential to be in the top 5 coldest 2-day periods of all time.
