First Severe Storm of 2008 Dumps Dime to Nickel-sized Hail over Portions of the Area

The first severe storm of 2008 for the Quad Cities area of responsibility moved across northwest Jones County, southeast Dubuque County, and extreme northwest Jo Daviess County between 545 am and 645 am on January 7th.  The severe thunderstorm produced dime to nickel-sized hail along its path, with some of the hail covering the ground.  The image below indicates the rainfall totals from the storm, but is also a good indication of the path of the storm.
