Volunteer Weather Observers are Needed - Join CoCoRaHS!

IT'S MARCH MADNESS TIME FOR COCORAHS!

So what does this all mean?  CoCoRaHS stands for the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow network and is composed of volunteer observers who measure and report precipitation all across the country.  The submitted precipitation reports serve as an extremely valuable datasource to many businesses and organizations, including the National Weather Service, hydrologists, media, and researchers, to name a few!  You can check out this morning's precipitation reports from the following link:

If you are interested in joining this fun and easy program, then all you need are the following:

1. Internet access for submitting reports

2. Some form of basic training - either online through the link (Training) or by attending a live walk-in training session

3. An official 4-inch diameter CoCoRaHS rain gauge (available online for purchase at www.cocorahs.org)

More information about CoCoRaHS can be accessed at www.cocorahs.org and you can join by clicking "Join CoCoRaHS" on the upper right part of the homepage to fill out an online application.  If you have any questions or would like more information, then feel free to contact our office via email to tim.gross@noaa.gov.
