Henry and Mercer County, IL added to Galesburg NOAA Weather Radio

After conducting signal strength measurements, it has been determined that Henry and Mercer County, IL can be added to the coverage area of NOAA Weather Radio station KZZ-66 in Galesburg, broadcasting at a frequency of 162.400 MHz. 

Effective May 25, 2007, watches, warnings, and advisories will be broadcast on KZZ-66 for the following counties.  Numbers in parentheses are the Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) county codes, used by programmable NWR receivers.

  • Henry (017073)
  • Knox (017095)
  • Mercer (017131)
  • Warren (017187)

Henry and Mercer Counties will also remain part of the broadcast coverage of station WXJ-73 in Rock Island, broadcasting at a frequency of 162.550 MHz.  Listeners in these counties can tune to either KZZ-66 or WXJ-73, depending on which station comes in better in their particular location.
