Canadian high pressure brought record cold temperatures to the region Saturday morning. New record low temperatures were established between 7:00 and 7:30 am. Some of the records weren’t just broken, but were shattered by breaking the old record by several degrees. In addition to the record cold, some areas woke up to what looked like a winter-wonderland with a widespread heavy frost.
In addition, the Cedar Rapids and Dubuque areas also established a new record for the earliest date in the fall season to reach or surpass the 32 degree mark.
