Much Colder Temperatures brought in by Gusty Winds

Colder air will dump into the region tonight...brought in by strong gusty winds earlier today and this evening.  Highs today occurred around noon for many areas, with temperatures then holding steady or slowly falling during the afternoon.  This evening and overnight temperatures will continue to fall.  A freeze is expected over the entire area late tonight and early Monday morning as low temperatures bottom out in the 20s to near 30 degrees.  This will end the growing season over eastern Iowa, northwest and west central Illinois, and northeast Missouri.  A freeze warning has been issued for much of the area south of Highway 20.

Temperatures in the 20s to near 30 degrees early Monday morning combined with brisk northwest winds of 15 to 30 mph will result in wind chill readings in the teens to lower 20s.

Those with outdoor interests tonight and Monday should brace for windy and colder weather.  Stay current with the forecast here.
