A winter weather advisory is in effect this evening and tonight until 9 am on Friday for locations roughly north of Highway 34. This advisory is for freezing rain and freezing drizzle that may accumulate up to a quarter inch. With temperatures in the 20s all exposed surfaces such as roads and sidewalks will become quickly ice covered and very hazardous. Strong low pressure developing in the central Plains will bring strengthening southerly low level winds, warming temperatures, and increasing moisture into the region. This will allow temperatures to rise above freezing for most locations by mid morning Friday...ending the threat for freezing rain or drizzle. Stay tuned to later forecasts and statements for further updates.
