A major winter storm will continue to affect the area through Tuesday morning. This system will bring snowfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches to areas along and especially north of Highway 34. In addition, very strong northwesterly winds gusting to around 45 mph will develop over the area this evening and persist through early Tuesday morning. Winds of this magnitude combined with the freshly fallen snow will result in significant blowing and drifting, and blizzard conditions with near zero visibility at times north of Highway 34. Travel will become quite difficult, if not impossible. Near blizzard conditions will be possible south of Highway 34. Also, much colder air coupled with the very strong winds will create dangerously cold wind chills of -20 to -30 late tonight and Tuesday morning.
