Significant Snow Possible Tonight into Saturday

A winter storm will impact most of the region tonight and Saturday with accumulating snowfall, along with blowing and drifting snow.  Winter Weather Warnings and Advisories have been issued for portions of Northwest Illinois and Eastern and Northeast Iowa for tonight and Saturday morning.   Areas north of a line from Independence Iowa, to Clinton Iowa, to Sterling Illinois can expect the most snowfall, with 3 to 6 inches possible.   From there south, to a line from Williamsburg Iowa, to Washington Iowa, to Aledo Illinois can expect 1 to 3 inches of snow, with an inch or two from Highway 34 south with localized areas around 3 inches.  By Saturday morning northwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 mph...which is expected to cause considerable drifting and some blowing of the snow.  The combination of snowfall and drifting snow may cause significant travel hazards tonight and Saturday morning.
