Severe Weather Expected Today

A strong low pressure over the Northern Plains has resulted in southerly winds across the area for the past two days. These winds have been returning heat and moisture northward across Eastern Iowa, Northwest Illinois and Northeast Missouri. A trailing cold front, extending south from the low pressure, will provide the focus for severe thunderstorms across the region this afternoon and evening. Stay tuned to National Weather Service forecasts for the latest information about the severe threat.
