JANUARY 2010

Heavy snow fell across parts of the area on January 6-7 as a strong Alberta clipper dropped out of the northern Plains.

FEBRUARY 2010

Several inches of snow occurred across parts of the area on March 20, the first day of spring.

APRIL 2010

April 2010 started out with several days in a row with active weather.

The night skies lit up during the late evening of April 14th when a meteor burnt up as it entered the earth's atmosphere.  More Information

MAY 2010

Geneseo, IL experienced some flash flooding during the morning of May 13th as a result of receiving 2 to 6 inches of rain in about 12 hours.

JUNE 2010

A tornado outbreak across Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario, occurred on June 5th, when over 30 reported tornadoes raced across the region.

JULY 2010

Rain, rain, and more rain summed up the month of July 2010.  So much so that record flooding was observed on some area tributary rivers.

In addition, towards the end of the month an earthen berm adjacent to the Lake Delhi/Hartwick Lake Dam failed as a result of the record floods.

AUGUST 2010

A weather threat that is commonly taken for granted made its presence known in August.  Several lightning strikes occurred with thunderstorms during the month of August 2010 damaging homes and businesses and injuring people.  A 12 year old boy was struck by lightning during the afternoon of August 20th as he left school.  Luckily, he is on the road to recovery.  Additional information can be found by clicking on the "August 2010" link above.

SEPTEMBER 2010

Not much happened weather-wise in the immediate area during the month of September 2010.  However, heavy rains fell across southern Minnesota, which later lead to some flooding along the Mississippi River from Dubuque to Gregory Landing.

OCTOBER 2010

Heavy rains that fell in Minnesota and Wisconsin in September brought minor to moderate flooding along the Mississippi River from Dubuque Iowa to Gregory Landing, Missouri during the first half of October.  Depending on the location this was only the 3rd or 4th time flooding has occurred on the river in the fall.  Additional information can be found by clicking on the "October 2010" link above.

A major fall storm system that developed during the afternoon of October 25th brought severe weather and two days of high winds to parts of the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes.  More Information

NOVEMBER 2010

A very strong cold front swept across the region during the afternoon of November 22nd, accompanied by scattered severe thunderstorms over portions of northeast Missouri, southeast Iowa, and west central and northwest Illinois.

DECEMBER 2010

Snow fell over a large area of Minnesota, northeast Iowa, and northern Illinois December 3-4.

Blizzard conditions were seen across parts of the area December 11-12 as a powerful low pressure system moved across the region.
