Severe Weather Possible Late This Morning and Afternoon

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible today during the late morning and afternoon hours as a strong cold front tracks east across Iowa.  The Storm Prediction Center has outlooked eastern Iowa and northwest Illinois in a slight risk for severe storms.  At this time, the main threat will be damaging winds with a secondary threat of large hail with the stronger storms that develop.  In addition, temperatures will be warming into the mid 80s to lower 90s ahead of the cold front.  These temperatures combined with the humidity, will allow heat indices to be in the lower 90s to near the 100 degree mark, especially along and south of I-80.  Please stay informed of changing weather conditions throughout the day.
