Temperature & Precipitation Outlook

The new climate outlook for January & January through March was issued on Dec 15.

Here is a summary of what we might expect in the mid Mississippi Valley.

January:

There is a better chance (40-45%) at seeing above normal average temperatures.
There is no indication as to whether there will be below normal/near normal/above normal precipitation amounts.

Three Month Outlook: January, February, and March

There is a better chance (33-36%) that southeastern Iowa, west central Illinois, and far northeast Missouri will have above normal average temperatures.
There is no indication as to whether northwest Illinois and the rest of east central Iowa will have below normal/near normal/above normal average temperatures.
There is a better chance (33-40%) that the 91 day precipitation total will be above normal.

January through March Temperature Outlook

Average Temperature	There is a 35.0% chance for the average temperature during this 3-month period to be higher than 32°.	There is a 35.0% chance for the average temperature during this 3-month period to be higher than 28°.	There is a 34.0% chance for the average temperature during this 3-month period to be higher than 27.6°.	There is a 35.0% chance for the average temperature during this 3-month period to be higher than 31.7°.
