...WARM CHRISTMAS AND DECEMBER FOR MUCH OF THE REGION...

 

CHRISTMAS DAY WAS ONE OF THE WARMEST IN RECENT YEARS.  THE QUAD CITY

AIRPORT HAD THE 22ND WARMEST CHRISTMAS ON RECORD SINCE RECORDS BEGAN

IN 1872.  THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 46 DEGREES WAS THE WARMEST SINCE

1994.  THE DUBUQUE IOWA AIRPORT HAD THE 18TH WARMEST CHRISTMAS ON

RECORD SINCE RECORDS BEGAN IN 1873. THE HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 43

DEGREES WAS THE WARMEST SINCE 1994.

             AVERAGE TEMPERATURE

 

BURLINGTON          35.5    (13TH WARMEST)

CEDAR RAPIDS        34.5    (3RD WARMEST)

DUBUQUE             33.0    (18TH WARMEST)

MOLINE              34.5    (22ND WARMEST)

 

THE MONTH OF DECEMBER HAS BEEN ABOVE NORMAL FOR EASTERN IOWA AND

NORTHWEST ILLINOIS.  THROUGH DECEMBER 26TH THE QUAD CITY AIRPORT HAS

HAD THE 15TH WARMEST DECEMBER ON RECORD...WITH ABOVE NORMAL

TEMPERATURES EXPECTED FOR THE REST OF THE MONTH.  THE QUAD CITY

AIRPORT ONLY NEEDS TO ADD 1.2 DEGREES TO THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE TO

BE IN THE TOP 10 WARMEST DECEMBER...WHILE THE DUBUQUE AIRPORT NEEDS

2.7 DEGREES.

CEDAR RAPIDS        29.9    (10TH WARMEST)

DUBUQUE             30.0    (21ST WARMEST)
