Daily Climate Maps Have a New Look

The Daily Climate Maps available on the Quad Cities National Weather Service webpage have been

given a new look. The redesigned maps are produced using ESRI ArcGIS software. They show a

color contoured analysis of regional high temperatures for the past 24 hours, overnight low temperatures,

rainfall and snowfall for the past 24 hours as well as the current snow depth. At the bottom of each map

is a tabular listing of the reports used in the map as well as links to maps for the previous 7 days.

The data used in the maps comes from a variety of sources including, automated weather observations at area

airports, volunteer NWS Cooperative Observers, and volunteer CoCoRahs (Community Collaborative Rain,

Hail, & Snow Network) Observers. The Quad Cities National Weather Service Office receives the reports

between 6 AM and 9 AM each day and the maps are available on the webpage by 11 am.
