Cold arctic air will remain over the region tonight and combined with clear skies, light winds, and fresh snow cover will make for a very cold night! Temperatures will plummet to near record values, with readings in the single digits to teens below zero by early Friday. Any wind that develops will push wind chill values in the upper teens to lower 30s below zero at times. A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9pm this evening until 10am Friday.
Another very cold arctic air mass will push into the Midwest early next week. Temperatures are expected to remain below zero throughout Monday and at least some of Tuesday. The last time this happened in the region was January 15, 2009.
