Heavy Rainfall Produced Flooding in North Central Missouri

Yet another powerful upper level storm system pushed towards into the heart of the country this week.  This storm system pushed a large volume of moisture due north out of the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, October 26.  The first area of thunderstormed developed early Thursday morning before daybreak as an abnormally strong lower level wind fields lifted this large quantity of moisture streaming northward.  The end result was widespread "elevated" thunderstorm activity which developed in southeast Kansas and lifted northward into Iowa and Illinois during Thursday morning.  Further to the west, an additional line of showers and embedded thunderstorms slowly crawled across central and eastern Kansas during the day on Thursday, accelerating across Missouri late Thursday afternoon and evening.  Rain quickly came to an end in the area by midnight
