The average temperature at the Kansas City International airport during the month of January was 32.8 degrees, which was 4.0 degrees above normal. The average high temperature was 43.4 degrees, or 5.4 degrees above normal. The average low temperature was 22.2 degrees which was 2.6 degrees above normal. The highest temperature for the month was 74 degrees on the 28th. The lowest temperatures was 5 degrees on the 31st.  The 74 degrees recorded on the 28th fell 1 degree short of tying the all-time January high temperature record of 75 degrees set on January 24, 1950.  The broken daily high temperature of 63 degrees on January 28th, was previously the coldest record high temperature to be broken.

Precipitation came in at 1.03 inches for the month, or 0.04 inches below normal. The greatest total in a 24 hour period was 0.68 inches on the 29th through the 30th. Snowfall for the month was 1.0 inches which was 3.6 inches below normal.
