Record April Snowfall

A series of early spring snow storms have dropped unusually heavy snowfall across a large portion of the Red River Valley and Minnesota lakes country. This has resulted in record or near record snow totals for the month of April.

Below are a few selected locations in the southern Red River Valley and western Minnesota lakes country. The good news in all this snow is that most of the areas that have received the snowfall need the moisture. Soils in these areas have been quite dry since last fall...and these snows have helped replenish top soil moisture.

Remember these are provisional figures and subject to change. The Official snow fall information will be available from the National Climatic Data Center later this year.
