Strong Arctic Outbreak Possible Next Week

Although cold weather has been entrenched across the northern plains for the past several weeks, a change in the upper air pattern looks to bring some of the coldest air to the region in a decade. Should conditions develop as forecast, life threatening wind chills and dangerously cold air temperatures will move into the region, with the coldest weather possible next Wednesday January 14th and Thursday the 15th. Depending on sky conditions, wind speeds and additional snow, some record lows may be set.

Your NOAA's National Weather Service will keep watch on this developing cold air outbreak and issue updates with the appropriate watches or warnings as needed.
