Severe Storms and Heavy Rain through Tonight

Showers and thunderstorms will move into eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota and continue tonight. Some storms will contain heavy rainfall, with severe weather also possible with damaging wind, tornadoes and large hail possible. Rainfall amounts from 1 to 3 inches are possible, with locally higher amounts. This may result in localized flash flooding and add water to already high river levels.  There is an enhanced risk for tornadoes across portions of southeastern North Dakota and adjacent portions of Minnesota this afternoon and evening.  This area will be closely monitored for potentially strong tornadoes.  A larger wind event may develop for the entire region overnight.  Stay tuned to the latest forecasts and be sure to review severe weather safety tips.
