Wind Gusts on Friday October 7, 2011

A high wind event occurred over the region on Friday October 7, 2011.  Numerous wind gusts in excess of 50 mph were recorded, with some over 70 mph. These strong winds were from a southerly direction, which is very rare in our area. Most high wind events occur with westerly or northerly winds. There was also significant blowing dust in open country that reduced visibility at times. In addition, numerous tree damage occurred throughout the region.  Below is a listing of high wind gusts recorded around the region.
