Rain and Wind Expected

A major storm system will impact the northern plains through Saturday. Northerly winds will increase and gust to 40 mph at times into Saturday. In addition, rain will overspread the region by tonight and continue into Saturday. For folks travelling to the west into South Dakota and south Central North Dakota, snow is also possible with blizzard conditions in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Some areas could receive 1 to 1.5 inches of rainfall, with the southern Red River Valley most likely to receive the heavier rain amounts.  Any changes in the expected track could cause the heaviest rain band to shift to the north or south.
