A very dry start to 2014

While 2014 has had some cold and windy weather across the region, it has also been unseasonably dry to start the year.  So far, Sioux Falls, Sioux City and Huron have had less than 2.25" of precipitation through April 22.  The normal precipitation across the region is over twice that amount.  For Huron and Sioux City, this ranks as the 2nd and 4th driest start to the year, respectively.  Sioux Falls has the 8th driest start on record to start the year.  Rain is forecast across the region from Tuesday night through Wednesday night and again this weekend.  To reach normal precipitation, most places will need over 3 inches of rain.
