The Community Collaborative Rain, Hail & Snow network (CoCoRaHS) continues to look for more volunteer weather observers. South Dakota has been participating in this program since June 2007, and Iowa came on board last October. There are currently 397 observers signed up across South Dakota, and 339 in Iowa. While these numbers may sound impressive, there are still many areas where rain and snow data is unavailable, and a more dense observer network is needed.

If the amount of rain and/or snow that falls affects you, or if you just have an interest in the weather, this is a great opportunity to get involved and provide data that is used by numerous government, university, and private entities.
