Near record temperatures of around 105 degrees are expected this weekend from the James River Valley and westward through the Missouri River Valley. High temperatures in the 90s are anticipated in eastern portions of the forecast area, below record levels, however afternoon heat indicies will reach upwards of 105 degrees due to the combination of heat and humidity. Check our latest forecast graphics, or grid point forecast for the expected temperatures in your area.
With temperatures so warm, everyone should be aware of the symptoms of heat stress and heat stroke and precautions that should be taken. Drink plenty of fluids, stay out of the direct sunlight and remain in an air conditioned room when possible. Also, check on the elderly or others without air conditioners.
