Smoky skies expected Wednesday

Northerly flow behind a frontal zone dropping southward through the Northern Plains has pushed an area of smoke into the area. This smoke will likely be noticeable to most , producing a hazy sky and slightly reducing visibilities, as well as creating a smoky odor.  Satellite imagery and surface observations show clearer conditions in North Dakota and south central Canada.  Therefore the smoky conditions in this area should improve tonight.  The origin of this smoke is from fires in northern Saskatchewan.  A map of ongoing fires and the coverage of smoke plumes can be found at the following link:
