August 21 marks the anniversary of the largest hailstone on record in South Dakota



On August 21, 2007, a supercell thunderstorm produced what would be the record size hailstone for the state of South Dakota, officially measuring  6 and 7/8 inches in diameter with a circumference of 18 inches.   For more information on this damaging and record event, follow the link to the official web page.
