A slow moving upper level low is expected to linger over central Kansas through Thursday. Widespread rain is expected from eastern portions of South Dakota and Nebraska, into Iowa and southwest Minnesota tonight. Locally heavy rain of 1.5 to 2 inches or more will be possible over parts of the area. Heavier rainfall rates could produce isolated street flooding in urban areas, especially in those areas where fallen leaves are blocking typical drainage flow.
The rain may still mix with or change over to snow at times through early Thursday, especially in the areas of higher elevation. Snowfall amounts will be very dependent on temperature, however, pockets of one to two inches of snow are possible from Brookings South Dakota down toward Plankington South Dakota. Lesser amounts of snowfall can be expected in other areas west of a line from Marshall Minnesota to Lake Andes South Dakota.
