...THANKSGIVING 2008 WEATHER WAS WELL WITHIN THE BOUNDS OF NORMAL...

THIS YEAR...THANKSGIVING DID NOT BRING ANY PARTICULARLY EXTREME
WEATHER. WE CAN CERTAINLY BE THANKFUL FOR MANY REASONS. THE MILD
AFTERNOON TEMPERATURES DID NOT EXCEED ANY OF THE TOP FIVE RECORD
MAXIMUM VALUES. ALTHOUGH THE MORNING WAS CHILLY...READINGS MISSED
THE TOP 5 MINIMUM VALUES BY SEVERAL DEGREES. ALL OF SOUTHEAST SOUTH
DAKOTA...SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA...NORTHWEST IOWA...AND NORTHEAST
NEBRASKA WAS DRY...WHICH ALLOWED LESS TO WORRY ABOUT FOR THOSE WITH
TRAVEL CONCERNS. THE AVERAGE CHANCE FOR PRECIPITATION THIS TIME OF
YEAR IS BETWEEN 15 AND 25 PERCENT...BUT SOME OF THAT CAN BE SNOW OR
FREEZING RAIN.

SPECIFICALLY FOR SIOUX FALLS...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THIS AFTERNOON
WAS 43 DEGREES. THIS WAS 8 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...BUT MISSED THE TOP
FIVE WARMEST CATEGORY BY AT LEAST 15 DEGREES. THE TOP FIVE WARMEST
THANKSGIVINGS RANGE FROM 58 TO 67 DEGREES. THE LOW TEMPERATURE THIS
MORNING WAS 23 DEGREES. THIS WAS 15 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...AND AT
LEAST 28 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE TOP FIVE COLDEST CATEGORY. THE TOP
FIVE COLDEST THANKSGIVINGS VARY FROM 5 BELOW TO 9 BELOW ZERO. THE
DRY DAY FELL IN LINE WITH AN AVERAGE PRECIPITATION CHANCE OF ONLY 22
PERCENT THIS TIME OF YEAR.

SPECIFICALLY FOR SIOUX CITY...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THIS AFTERNOON
WAS 44 DEGREES. THIS WAS 6 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...BUT MISSED THE TOP
FIVE WARMEST CATEGORY BY AT LEAST 17 DEGREES. THE TOP FIVE WARMEST
THANKSGIVINGS RANGE FROM 61 TO 66 DEGREES. THE LOW TEMPERATURE THIS
MORNING WAS 20 DEGREES. THIS MATCHED THE NORMAL FOR THE DATE...BUT
WAS AT LEAST 18 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE TOP FIVE COLDEST
THANKSGIVINGS. THE TOP FIVE COLDEST THANKSGIVINGS VARY FROM 2 ABOVE
TO 5 BELOW ZERO. THE DRY DAY FELL IN LINE WITH AN AVERAGE
PRECIPITATION CHANCE OF ONLY 22 PERCENT THIS TIME YEAR.

SPECIFICALLY FOR HURON...THE HIGH TEMPERATURE THIS AFTERNOON WAS 42
DEGREES. THIS WAS 7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...BUT MISSED THE TOP FIVE
WARMEST CATEGORY BY AT LEAST 19 DEGREES. THE TOP FIVE WARMEST
THANKSGIVINGS RANGE FROM 61 TO 67 DEGREES. THE LOW TEMPERATURE THIS
MORNING WAS 23 DEGREES. THIS WAS 7 DEGREES ABOVE NORMAL...AND AT
LEAST 29 DEGREES WARMER THAN THE TOP FIVE COLDEST CATEGORY. THE TOP
FIVE COLDEST THANKSGIVINGS VARY FROM 6 BELOW TO 14 BELOW ZERO. THE
DRY DAY FELL IN LINE WITH AN AVERAGE PRECIPITATION CHANCE OF ONLY 16
PERCENT THIS TIME YEAR.
