Possible blizzard conditions developing this weekend

Another winter storm is expected to head across the Northern Plains this weekend.  Low pressure will move across the Central Plains on Saturday.  Light snow will develop north of the low with possibility of heavier snowfall over portions of east central South Dakota and southwest Minnesota.  As the low moves east, strong northwest west winds will develop.  Wind speeds of 20 to 40 mph are possible producing near blizzard conditions by Saturday evening and continuing into Sunday.  Even locations expected to receive little snowfall on Saturday can expect widespread blowing snow Saturday and Sunday.  In addition, arctic air will move into the area and by Sunday so that wind chill temperatures will range fro -20 to -40 degrees as high temperatures are expected to remain below zero.  Persons planning travel this weekend should stay abreast of the latest forecast.
