January 15 2008 - A Few Lowest High Temperature Records May Fall

Cold days like today bring to mind another climatic statistic that at times may seem like the cliché “adding insult to injury”.  Our recovery from this arctic cold will be slow today with some locations failing to climb above zero degrees while the daylight lasts.  The statistic in question is known as the record low maximum temperature (or coldest high temperature) of the day.
